JWP was set up in 1997 by James Ward to plug a hole in the corporate video market using single operator producers and the new ‘MTV style’ of filming that was being used on TV – but for business videos.
James worked as a camera assistant and production manager in the 1990’s, learning production processes and creative methods from the likes of Howard Guard and Geoff Stark on high profile advertising campaigns.
He embraced the new ‘digital’ era and set up as a self-shooter and video producer for brands and broadcasters in 1997.
James was first asked film the making of a landmark building in Bishopsgate, London, filming it’s progress over a 2 year period. Whilst carrying out the contract I provided various promotional films showing the building for the topping out ceremony and for the contractors to use to plug new contracts. Although way before the internet – the mini films were like ‘online content’ material – short form videos giving an insight behind the scenes. These really became my forte – filming and editing making of style programmes that helped show what went into big industrial projects.
Whilst working on the contract James worked for various PR companies such as Weber Shandwick and Hill & Knowlton. James worked for some big brands via the agencies and learnt a great deal about how to communication through the use of video.
We now work on a variety of projects from filming branded cents for Unilever to streaming London Fashion Week from London, New York, and Paris. Our latest project is filming the stars in SKY’s biggest TV drama ‘Riviera’ in 2019/2020.
Whilst running the company from day to day James also works across projects developing ideas and concepts for new video content as well as self-shooting and editing. When larger projects entail bigger crews James over sees the productions and works with a pool of experienced professional freelancers camera operators and editors.
The first point of contact, James Ward plans and creates the creative concept and approach to the project, based on years of experience working for brands. We then work out whether it is a self shooter project or requires a larger crew.
Our goal is pure and simple; to be the number 1 go to video agency for branded content and live streaming in the UK. We simply want to provide the best service to our clients and this is the goal we set when we embark on any project.
